I'm a GRANT WINNER!
I just competed for the
Rising Star Emerging Performing Artist Award;
a grant awarded by the Howard County Arts Council for
individual artists.  The t
en finalists included two opera
singers, a jazz vocalist,
 a pianist, a ballerina, a modern
dancer, a cellist, a guitarist, and a piccolo flutist. We
were named finalists in January, and award recipients
were chosen
by the audience at the Arts Council's
Celebration of the Arts gala event held on
April 26th.
The grant has existed since 2005, and has never gone to
an actor before.  I
'm proud and humbled to be the first!
I recently played Jane in Mr. Brownstone,
one of two short plays written by Cho
Seung-Hui for a playwriting class.  The
BBC is
currently filming a documentary on the life of
the Virginia Tech shooter, a segment of which
will include my performance in his play.

I'll be playing the role of Catherine in this
hysterical play in Newport News, VA.
Summer theatre work at the beach? I
suppose I could do worse...
